February goals

Wednesday, February 7, 2018

I made some great progress on my 2018 goals during January, and I can't believe February is already here. We have a lot going on this month!

I don't use every prep page in my Powersheets every month, but I always use these two:

  • Prepare Well - I list calendar events and tasks I need to take into consideration when planning the month
  • Make What Matters Happen This Month - I list all my potential goals and divide them into monthly, weekly, and daily goals (or eliminate them altogether) before writing them on my Tending List

Here's where I ended up on my February goals. I want to keep up my momentum from January without getting too overwhelmed now that our schedule has picked up.

Monthly goals

1. Read 4 books - One per week will keep me on track with my yearly goal of 48 books.

2. Organize 4 years of photos - A yearly goal is to organize all of my digital photos, so this is a step in that direction.

3. Date night in / date night out - One of each

4. Experience Huntsville - Do something we can only do in Huntsville this month

5. Plan DC trip - Lots to do to prepare for our upcoming trip next month! In February I'd like to (loosely) plan our food and activities for the trip, figure out who will take care of our dogs, and write out our packing lists (and one for Finley, who is staying with my parents).

6. Save for laptop - I have a goal to buy a new laptop in December, so I've broken down the estimated cost into 12 months and plan to save at least that amount monthly.

7. Valentine's Day - Just want to prioritize celebrating with Casey. I'd like to do dinner and a gift!

8. Go to soccer games - Soccer season is in full swing and games start soon for Casey's team. We can't go to every game (taking a two-year-old is maybe as exhausting as playing the game itself) but I want to make it to two games this month.

9. (Work goal) - Not planning on blogging much about work goals, but I have a big deadline this month (pushed from last month) so this one needed to be on my list!

10. Do taxes - Self-explanatory I think. Don't want to put this one off to the last minute.

Weekly goals

1. One blog post - Just one per week to meet my yearly goal, but two would be even better!

2. Plan meals - A reminder to plan meals for each week ahead of time.

3. Meal prep - Chopping veggies and doing anything else I can in advance helps me spend less time cooking during the week.

4. Prayer journal - Update my planner with prayer needs at least once a week and pray over them often.

5. Small group - Attend my small group every Sunday.

Daily goals

1. Read to Finley - Read to Finley nightly and track all the books we read. See the page on my blog where I'm keeping the big list!

2. YNAB - Update our budget daily to ensure we're staying on track.

3. Stand/move goals - My Apple watch tells me when to stand and move to meet my personal goals, so I want to listen to it and meet these goals daily.

4. Weight Watchers - Track my food in my WW app

Once I set my monthly goals, I tore my Tending List out of my Powersheets, folded it in half, and stuck it in the front pocket of my planner to make sure it's always accessible.
